Robbers Raid 3 Banks In Kwara, Cart Away Millions

Three major banks in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State were, yesterday, raided by armed robbers who allegedly carted away undisclosed sum of money.

An eye witness told LEADERSHIP that the affected banks are First bank, GTB and Skye bank.

The Offa attack also have an over lapping effect on the operation of the First bank, Surulere branch, Ilorin as customers hurriedly fled the banking hall when the information filtered in.

It was further learnt that the armed robbers passed through Osogbo, Osun State to 0ffa and stormed the banks one after the other around 12.55 p.m.

The armed robbers were also said to have gained entrance after they over powered the security men at the main entrance of the affected banks.

After gaining entry, the men of the underworld were said to have ordered banks’ staff and all the customers who were inside the banking hall to lie face down at gun point; after which they collected all the money on the deposit hall and the one at the counters in the banks.

The prompt response of the police could not save the situation as the armed robbers were said to have escaped through Ijagbo- Ilorin road, though there were exchange of gun shots between them and the police according to sources.

The spokesman, of the State Police Command, ASP Dabo Ezekiel, confirmed the incident added that the police have commenced investigations into the attack.
