Oyo/Osun Customs Generates N1.7bn In 2 Months

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated the sum of N1.7 Billion  as revenue in the last two months.

This was made known in   Ibadan yesterday by the Customs Area Comptroller for Oyo/Osun command, Alhaji.M.U Mohammed  during a press briefing.

Alhaji Mohammed also disclosed that 74 vehicles were impounded from business men who wanted to evade the payment of customs import duties on the vehicles.

He explained that once the owners of the seized vehicles showed up to pay the duties, the vehicles would be released to them.

On the contrabands impounded in the other vehicles, the Area  Comptroller hinted that such would never be released as they were prohibited from being imported into the country.

He solicited for the cooperation of members of the public in  revenue generation by customs adding that smugglers would never have peace of mind in his command.

Answering reporters’ question on peaceful coexistence between the customs and the public, Alhaji Mohammed  disclosed that  he had  visited some traditional rulers in the state who assured him of their cooperation.
