The national convention of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, as well as the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board, Jamb, improved biometric machines yesterday disrupted the smooth running of events in most of the examimination centres as many students were still seen outside the examination halls at 10:30am when it was slated to have started by 9am.
Leadership Sunday gathered at some of the centres like Government Secondary School Tudun wada2 and Government Secondary Zone3 that the impediment was caused due to the PDP convention as many of the roads were blocked in the FCT,thereby leading to lateness from both invigilators and students.
The leader of the team at Government Secodary School, Zone3, Dr Mrs Amuche Madu said'there was a mix-up of centre numbers which students and officials to come late and they also complained of the blockages by security personel due to the PDP convention'.
For the students who were there since 6am when checking-in of the candidates was expected to have commenced, it gathered that the biometric machines which were insufficient were refusing to recognise thumb-prints and faces of the candidates and insituations where they did,the machines were not properly charged and the only available option was to go manual.
However,the senate committee chairman on Education,Senator Uche Chukwumerije, was of the opinion that 'jamb has made a huge success and has provided all that is needed.
