30 Die In Road Accidents In 2 Days In Kaduna

No fewer than 30 people have so far lost their lives in two separate raod accidents along Kaduna-Abuja road as well as Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road in Kaduna State.

Barely 24 hours after a motor accident claimed 14 lives along Kaduna- Abuja highway, another ugly accident which occurred along Birnin-Gwari-Lagos road yesterday claimed 16 lives.

LEADERSHIIP gathered that the accident which involved a truck with registration number Kano XC 230 GML was said to be carrying about 119 passengers heading to Kaduna from Lagos.

The Kaduna State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), yesterday, confirmed the death of the 16 persons and added that 81 of the passengers were injured, while others survived the accident.

The Sector Commander, Mr. Francis Ndoma, said that the accident occurred at about 5.30 am, few kilometers to Birnin Gwari town and over 100 kilometers to Kaduna metropolis.

He also said that the accident took place as a result of speed violation by the driver of the truck and said that accident victims

have since been taken  to Jibril Maigwari, Memorial Hospital and are now receiving treatment.
The FRSC warned intending passengers to avoid vehicles that were often subjected to overloading and as well take firm stance in cautioning drivers whenever they engage in over speeding.

“We are warning drivers to avoid overspending and overloading because these are serious factors that often lead to road accident," he said.
