The police on Friday in Abakaliki gunned down an armed robbery suspect identified as Uche Mgbada.
Mr John Eluu, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said the suspect was killed during an alleged armed robbery operation by a three-man gang on Gunning Road, Abakaliki.
He said the other two suspected members of the gang were still at large.
“Items recovered from the suspect include two digital cameras, N135,000 cash as well as house breaking instruments such as cutters and knives,” he said.
On the upsurge in criminal activities in the state, the police spokesman said the divisional police officers in the state had been directed to intensify vehicular and foot patrols.
This, he said, would complement other measures adopted by the command to combat crime in the state.
He urged the people of the state to give the police useful information that would assist in the fight against crime.
