The Delta State Mobile Sanitation Court has convicted 34 persons out of 42 arraigned by the taskforce on sanitation last Saturday.

The Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Sylvester Ehikwe in Asaba handed the convicts  sentences   that ranged from one month to three months imprisonments  or N1, 000 to N3, 000 fines as the case may be.

Meanwhile some Deltans have expressed dismay over the poor performance of the taskforce. They  said the inability of the taskforce to excel in the discharge of its official duty stemmed from alleged high level of indiscipline among some of its staff.

Mrs. Ngozi Chukwudi, a retired Civil Servant lamented the high level of indiscipline among the taskforce marshals adding: “they are only interested in satisfying their personal needs, rather than to execute their official duty for the benefit of the public.”

Reacting to the allegations made against the taskforce,  the  Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Frank Omare, while admitting some level of poor attitude to work displayed by some members of the taskforce marshals, however said that on the whole they were doing a good job.
