PDP Chieftain Returns LEADERSHIP Reporter’s Tape Recorder

Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party Taraba State, Hon. Victor Bala who confiscated the working tools of LEADERSHIP reporter including  camera, phone and a tape recorder in Taraba State has returned  the reporter’s working tools pleading that “it was a mistake.”

The Taraba State LEADERSHIP reporter, Mr. John Mkom was on Thursday, 5th March, at Peoples Democratic Party state secretariat to cover a protest staged by the people of Takum against the candidature of Hon Tanko Tamti  for the forth coming local government elections in the state,  had his tools confiscated by Hon.Bala.

The party chairman, while returning the confiscated items through the secretary of the NUJ correspondents chapel Taraba State chapter Mr. Chars Agerah,  pleaded that couple with the heavy work on him on how to screen the party candidatures for the forth coming local governments elections he could not identify the reporter whom he identified “as a friend”.

He apologizesed to the entire journalists in the state and the family of LEADERSHIP for the misconduct and  pleaded “not to repeat such act”.

The reporter Mr. John Mkom,  while receiving his working tools from Bala Kona through the secretary of correspondents chapel Mr. Chars Agerah, pleaded for mutual understanding between the political class and the media stating that only mutual  understanding among the two institutions would make  the public to  be enlightened about critical issues.
