The President of the   Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mohammed Garba, has urged members of the pen profession not to perpetually remain at the level of being the watchdogs of the Nigerian Society but to also be ready to sacrifice their wealth of experience towards  the nation building  by seeking and  aspiring for  political positions in government.

Garba  in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP SUNDAY  said,  journalists  have  sacrificed so much  to the political evolution of the  Nigerian project , stressing  that it is rather unfortunate that   politicians  are the ones who  eventually  reap  from  the selfless sacrifices of  journalists  and over the years have exhibited  high degree  of corruption and unpatriotic  tendencies  by mismanaging  the commonwealth of the county. He therefore enjoined  journalists  to  be politically conscious and to  seek for elective positions  in government .
