The Academic Staff Union of Nigeria (ASUU) , University of Abuja (UniAbuja) chapter has passed a vote of no confidence on the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof James Adelabu and has called for his immediate removal.
Speaking at a press briefing, the chairman of the union, Dr Clement Chups said since he assumed office, the vice-chancellor appeared to be on a mission to destroy the academic culture of the university, staff morale and had deviated from the statutory method of administration, running the university as his personal estate.
“In view of the prevailing circumstances arising from the inactions, incompetence and the attempt to malign others rather than take responsibility for actions or inactions and in a view of the fact that attempts were made in the past by the council to give the VC an opportunity to do things properly, ASUU therefore pronounces a vote of no confidence on the VC.”
