An unidentified man was yesterday knocked down and killed by a fast moving vehicle along the Mabushi-Kado Expressway yesterday.
The accident occurred around 1:05pm, when the man was trying to cross the road.
Accidents of this nature are a prevalent on the 8 lane expressway and hardly any week passes without an accident recorded on the road.
Our reporter who witnessed the incident reports that the man who was dressed in a cream colour caftan was crossing from the Mabushi side of the road, when the green Honda car with Lagos registration number RZ 981 KJA, that was moving in the opposite direction ran him over, pushing him into the gutter.
The victim died on the spot as his mangled body lay compressed in the gutter, with blood gushing out of the head which was already broken.
The accident attracted a large crowd of sympathisers, most of who blamed the accident and other similar ones on the absence of pedestrian bridges on the road.
One of them said “you can’t blame the driver; it is not his fault. This is an expressway and it should be expected that cars will move fast. It is the fault of the government who have failed to put pedestrian bridges on roads of this nature.”
