The North-east based Nigeria Premier League Club and the current NPL table leaders, Kano Pillars FC have boasted that having assumed the first position on the league table, they have sealed the 2011/2012 NPL league, believing that the club has all it takes now to clinch this season’s league trophy.
Having realised that they have the same points as Enugu Rangers and Dolphins of Port Harcourt, but have a superior goal difference to Rangers and Dolphins, Pillars have said that they are not worried over their other rivals, in as much as they can be comfortable to lift the trophy with goal aggregate difference.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP SPORTS on phone, Kano Pillars Media Officer, Idris Malikawa, has said that the management of the club has done its utmost to galvanize the players into irrepressible form. Malikawa has also disclosed that the players on their part have built momentum that will suffice to carry them through this season’s league.
He further revealed that the club management in its wisdom has scaled up the winning bonus of the players with a view to motivating them to constant victory. According to Malikawa, the previous winning bonus for pillars players was N15, 000 for home win, N30, 000 for away win, but now it has been increased to N20, 000 for home victory and N35, 000 for away victory.
Meanwhile, Pillars will welcome Gombe United today for the week 21 of the Nigeria Premier League. Asked if Pillars can pick all three points at stake in this encounter to maintain top spot , Malikawa said that the importance of their match against Gombe United will not be over-emphasized, promising that they will do everything within their power to clinch a victory over Gombe United who are seventh position on the log and are trailing Pillars by four points.
“I can confidently tell you that we’ve sealed this league. In order words, this trophy undoubtedly belongs to us because we have all it takes now to clinch this season’s Nigeria Premier League trophy. I understand that we have the same points as Rangers and Dolphins but difference in goal aggregates, but we will be comfortable to win the NPL glory with difference in goal aggregate.”
