13 Die In Katsina Auto Crash

No fewer than 13 persons were confirmed dead while 48 others sustained various degrees of injuries in a fatal accident that occurred along Mashi-Guntu road in Katsina State.

It was gathered that the accident occurred Sunday night when an unmarked trailer carrying the victims, cows and sheeps somersaulted as a result of over speeding. 11 persons died on the spot  while two others lost their lives on the way to Daura General Hospital.

 LEADERSHIP checks revealed that the victims were coming from Maiadua Market and were heading to Lagos together with their cows and sheep when the accident occurred.

 Among those who sustained what eyewitness described as serious injuries was the driver of the ill fated trailer who is currently being treated at the Katsina General Hospital.

 The chairman of Mashi Local Government Council, Alhaji Hamisu Abdullahi Gyartai prayed for the repose of the soul of those that lost their lives even as he described the accident as an act of God.

 Daura Zonal Commandant of FRSC, Malam Abdullahi Galadi who confirmed the accident and attributed it to over speeding, said a team of officers were sent to the accident scene to identify the number of casualties.
