Yakowa, Pate Commend Kaduna Residents For Apprehending Bomb Suspect

Kaduna State Gov. Patrick Yakowa and Dr Muhammad Ali Pate, the Minister of State for Health, on Friday commended Kaduna residents for their timely intervention at the scene of the bomb attack on media houses.

Yakowa and Pate hailed the residents when they visited the scene of the explosion as well as some of the victims at the 44 Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.

The governor said the security alertness of the residents led to apprehension of the bomber before the arrival of security agencies, adding that the action helped in curbing the extent of damage at the scene.

Yakowa urged the people to ensure the security of their environment and continue to partner with security agencies in safeguarding their lives and property.

``Security is the business of all of us. If we  put our heads together to support security agencies, we would be able to put a  stop to this menace.’’

He commiserated with families of the victims, assuring them that the state government would pay all the medical bills.

On his part, Pate said the Federal Government would upgrade the hospitals with equipment and drugs to carter for emergency cases.

The minister said the medical facilities would assist the hospitals in  treating  emergency cases such as accident and bomb blast victims.

Pate condoled the families of those who lost their lives, assuring the people of government commitment to resolve the incessant cases of insecurity in the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that 14 victims had been  receiving treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Jinjiri Abubakar, has confirmed the death of three persons while 25 others were injured during the blast.
