The Chairman of Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State Adamu Gani who was elected on the PDP platform has been removed from office by Niger State election petition tribunal sitting in Gurara after admitting to double voting in the October 8, 2011 election.

Gani was removed from office on April 24, 2012 by the tribunal which eventually ruled in favour of Yusuf Waili Gawu of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

Adamu of the PDP had in his testimony at the tribunal said he double voted and the court also established that unaccredited voters were allowed to vote.

Waili was not satisfied with the INEC results declared in favour of PDP and had taken the case to court.
