Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi is ready to give foreign-based stars, who will be available for next month’s friendly against Peru the chance to feature.
The Super Eagles face their Peruvian counterparts in Lima on May 21 preparatory to FIFA World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches in June.
“Any of the foreign-based players available for the game will get their chance to play (against Peru). If they show enough commitment, why not? After all they are Nigerians and we are doing our best to build a solid team for the country, a team that will make Nigerians proud,” he told SuperSport.com.
The 50-year-old manager also made it clear that none of the foreign or home-based players in the Super Eagles have “permanent shirts” yet.
He explained that work is still in progress in the building plan of the Super Eagles and that makes it impossible for any player to claim to have a permanent place.
“None of the players, whether foreign or home-based, have permanent shirts just yet in the team. We have tried out several players since we took charge and we will continue like that until we believe that we have the kind of team that is strong enough to compete with any team in the world.
“The building process is still ongoing and no player can claim a permanent shirt just yet because we don’t have a team yet,” Keshi remarked.
The Super Eagles face Namibia and Malawi in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying games as well as Rwanda in the 2013 Afcon qualifying. The three matches will take place in June this year.
