The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Musa Daura, has appealed to members of the public to desist from raising false alarm while giving information to the police.
A statement from the command in Enugu on Monday said Daura’s appeal followed an alarm in Nsukka that a car with a bomb had been discovered near a shopping plaza.
It said the command responded by dispatching its men to Nsukka, where the alarm emanated from.
It said that on getting to Nsukka, the men saw a Volkswagen car with registration number XA 452 AK with a box wired to the engine but the owner was not around.
The statement also said that the officers screened the car and discovered that the box did not have the definition of a bomb threat.
The driver of the car, Mr Lawrence Eze, later told the operatives that he parked the car close to the Ebeano plaza to enable him to drive a borehole drilling truck to a site.
The commissioner called on members of the public to always be sure of any matter before reporting it to the police.
He also urged them to be security conscious to enable them to contribute their quota to the security of life and property in the country.
