Senator Bukola Saraki yesterday kept his promise and turned himself over to the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar.
LEADERSHIP learnt that Senator Saraki, who was accompanied by former Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State among other sympathisers arrived the Louis Edet House, the Police Headquarters in Abuja before noon yesterday.
The former governor of Kwara State is presently being investigated by the Police over an alleged N9.7billion bank loan.
Meanwhile, Saraki has been released by the police. A statement issued by the Media Assistant to the ex governor, Mr. Akintoba Fatigun, stated that Saraki had honoured the invitation by the police and was later released .
The statement reads in part, “today, following an invitation by the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki visited the police headquarters, Louis Edet house, in Abuja at about 11am Monday morning to assist the police, as requested in the invitation letter, concerning an investigation relating to transactions between a company named as Joy Petroleum and Intercontinental Bank Plc.
