The Deputy President of the Senate, and Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, yesterday said a list of issues to be addressed in this round of constitutional amendment would soon be announced. He however did not indicate when, the list will be unfolded.
Ekweremadu who stated this during a breakfast meeting with journalists at his Apo residence in Abuja, also commiserated with the press over the series of losses arising from the attack on media houses by Boko Haram in Abuja and Kaduna.
Ekweremadu who hinted that his 50th birthday comes up on May 12, solicited the support of the press in the constitutional review process, charging them not to be deterred by the recent security challenges facing them.
Ekweremadu said,” you are aware that we have started the process of constitutional amendment and it is going to require a lot of information across to the people.
The only way we can do that is to establish partnership with you (media). Of course you are aware that we are yet to establish the National Institute of Legislative studies of which I am chairman of the governing council.
Very shortly in the next few days we will publish the list of issues we intend to tackle in this round of the constitutional amendment. Once we publish it we will likely hold an elaborate press conference”.
