The police on Thursday arraigned one George Garaty, a student, before an Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court for allegedly misappropriating N10. 6 million entrusted in his care.
Police Prosecutor, Abdullahi Adam, told the court that the case was reported by one Ifeanyi Udezu of Amptech Computer Ltd, Wuse Zone 3 Shopping Complex, Abuja, on April 25.
The prosecutor said Udezu gave the money to Garaty and one Roy Garaty, now at large, for the supply of desktop and laptop computer machine.
According to him, the accused misappropriated and converted the said money to his personal use.
Adam said the accused later changed his telephone lines and relocated from Ado, New Karu in Nasarawa State where he used to live to an unknown place.
The prosecutor said the accused was later traced to Gwagwalada, FCT, where he was caught.
He said the offence contravened Sections 79, 312, 309 and 322 of the Penal Code.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Emmanuel Iyanna, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties who must be resident in the FCT.
He adjourned the case to June 5 for further hearing.
