The Police in Lagos on Friday charged four suspected armed robbers before an Ebute Meta Magistrates' Court over alleged robbery and killing of a 50-year-old man.

The defendants, Abu Mohammed (25), Babatunde Oyetomi (23), Amodu Garuba (25) and Olamiji Oyetakin (25), are facing a four-count charge of felony, conspiracy, armed robbery and murder.

Their pleas were not taken.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Emmanuel Ajayi, told the court that the gang robbed one Omodowu Afowosese of N100, 000 and also killed 50-year-old Rafiu Olomowewe at about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 18, 2011.

``After stealing his money, the gang also killed the 50-year-old man during the incident,'' Ajayi said.

The prosecutor said the alleged offence which happened at Ijora-Badia, in Lagos, contravened Sections 221, 231 and 295 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

Magistrate Kemi Doja-Ojo ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

She, however, adjourned the case to June 2, for the DPP's  advice.  (NAN)
