The police in Lagos on Monday announced the arrest of another Lebanese in connection with last week’s murder of one Aliyu Sanni, after allegedly robbing him of $10,000.

Mr Joseph Jaiyeoba, spokesman of the state Police Command, confirmed the arrest of the third suspect in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Police sources told NAN that two Lebanese and three Nigerians were linked to the robbery and murder of the bureau de change operator in a hotel in Apapa.

The police had earlier arrested a Nigerian and a Lebanese and also recovered $10,000 from the two suspects arrested earlier.

Jaiyeoba said that the case had been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for further investigation.

In another development, the police in Lagos said they have arrested three suspected car thieves and recovered four stolen vehicles from the syndicate.

The police spokesman said that the syndicate, which specialised in using master key to steal vehicles, was caught on Friday by SARS operatives at Ijanikin, a suburb of Lagos.

The recovered vehicles are: Honda CRV Jeep with registration number ES 101 FST, Honda Accord CF 97 KSF, Toyota Siena KFJ 680 AA and another unregistered Toyota Siena space bus.

Jaiyeoba said that no arm was found on the suspected car thieves.

Similarly, the police said they have also arrested the suspect who stole ballot papers during last Saturday’s re-run councillorship election in Mushin Local Government Area of the state.

Jaiyeoba said that the suspect would be charge to court. (NAN)
