Amidst speculations,  the presidential candidate of  Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Gen. Muhammadu  Buhari and the leader of the  Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Bola Tinubu  is said to have reached conclusions to have  a joint Buhari/Tinubu  ticket come 2015 .

A CPC chieftain and governorship candidate in the 2011 elections in Enugu State, Mr. Osita Okachukwu, told LEADERSHIP SUNDAY  that both parties have learnt a lot from the mistakes and  misfortune of the 2011 elections, and  that both leaders had agreed to bury all differences this time  and  forge ahead with the joint Buhari/Tinubu  ticket .

It would be recalled that prior to 2011 elections , CPC  had proposed a joint ticket with the ACN but the merger for some reasons failed.   Recently, Gen. Buhari visited the ACN leader, Bola Tinubu at his  Lagos residence. The visit once again heightened speculations on a possible joint ticket against the PDP-led government come 2015.

Okachukwu, said Nigeria was drifting towards a failed state and that opposition parties  have agreed not to fold their  arms and watch but to come together and do what ever was necessary to rescue the country.

“The  CPC  Renewal Committee, led by former minister of FCT, Ahmed el-Rufai did the ground work for the coming together of Gen. Buhari  and Ahmed  Tinubu for effective political collaboration and merger and this has yielded positive results.

The two leaders have agreed to bury whatever  differences they had, so the joint ticket this time is certain, that I think will be made public when the time comes. “With the joint ticket, it is certain that the bandied 60 years of PDP rule in Nigeria has come to an end”, he stressed .
