Less than 48 hours after suspected terrorists killed a Village Head and Police Sergeant Mal. Yahaya Mohammed Danmadami popularly known as Sarkin Arewa and a Police Sergeant in Rigasa community, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis, another suspected terrorist gang laid an ambush on soldiers and killed one of the soldiers in the state capital.
LEADERSHIP learnt that the incident took place at around 8pm of the same Rigasa community when the terrorists who were trailing the soldiers opened fire on them and succeeded in killing one of the soldiers and injuring one.
The situation has put thousands of residents in Rigasa on a compulsory self imposed curfew for the fear of possible attacks, as soldiers have launched manhunt for the suspected terrorists that escaped.
The attacked soldiers were on a normal patrol of the area to avert the insurgencies of gunmen who had being killing Police personnels as well as civilians when the suspected terrorists open fire on them.
LEADERSHIP further gathered that there was an exchange of gun battle between the terrorist and the soldiers which lasted for several hours in the trouble area.
The armed soldiers being led by an officer who also returned fire, also killed one of the terrorists while other suspected terrorists escaped with gun wounds.
Confirming to story to Journalists, the spokesperson of the 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna. Col. Sani Kukasheku Usman said, “the terrorists encountered the soldiers at a checkpoint. And in the gun duel one of the soldiers was killed, while the soldiers also killed one of the terrorists and many of them escaped with gun wounds.
Only last Friday night, unknown gunmen in the area also killed one of the traditional ruler and another policeman and fled on motor bikes.
