The national women leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and former governorship candidate in Imo State, Chief Mrs. Kema Chikwe has advised Governor Rochas Okorocha to adhere to the constitution of the country in his innovative ideas of governing his state.
Speaking exclusively to LEADERSHIP yesterday on the controversial redeployment of some of the state’s civil servants to their rural areas, she said that in doing what he feels was best for the people of his state, he must be guided by laid down procedures.
Chikwe who was a two-time minister said she was as confused as any other citizen of the state, over the fourth tier government proposed by Okorocha.
“I don’t know what the governor has in mind but I am going to discuss with him and ask him what he is up to. I know he meant well for the people of the state, but he must follow the constitution,” Chikwe insisted.
Further, she asserted that there were many ways of achieving a stable and vibrant civil service without necessarily destabilising it. She therefore called on the governor to seek opinion of stakeholders from the state before implementing his ideas.
