President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Muhammad Garba, has given reasons why he did not  institute a probe into the alleged disappearance of over N30 million raised to build the national secretariat of the union by  certain national leadership of the union, saying it would amount to time wasting.

Garba had told journalists in Katsina that the then national leadership of the union had organized a fundraiser for the union’s national secretariat and alleged that said millions went down the drains.

Fielding questions on what his administration had done to recover the said money, Garba said he no longer had proper records of the issue.

“I did not probe it because it is waste of time going by my experience,” he explained.

The NUJ president, who is seeking reelection in the forthcoming delegate’s conference of the union, however said that if he were to probe anyone, “I will probe the immediate past leadership I succeeded because it did not hand over to me.”
