Oyo State Governor, Mr. Abiola Ajimobi has urged investors and agencies from the United States of America to help his administration develop the State with United States Technologies.
This came up during one of the side events of the 7th US-Africa Trade and Investment Forum organised by the Continental Africa Chamber of Commerce in Chicago.
Titled “Doing Businesses In Oyo State Of Nigeria” Governor Ajimobi who was the Keynote Speaker during the event on Thursday said that it was imperative for foreign partners from the United States to come to use latest United States Technologies to develop Oyo State.
The Governor who schooled in the Chicago area told the audiences that he was finding partners that would help Oyo State to develop to its fullest potential and create quality jobs for the citizens of the State.
Saying that Oyo State is an ideal place for farming for food security and production of raw materials for industries, Ajimobi said he intends to turn the state into an Agricultural Producing State with quality infrastructure where the people can be the best they can be.
The Governor stressed that his administration would make agriculture in the State a major driver of growth of the State and Nigerian economy and one of the top 5 agricultural producing states.
Ajimobi also indicated the readiness of his administration to collaborate with local and foreign investors towards ensuring the rapid socio-economic development of Oyo State, stressing that the government was doing everything possible to ensure that investors were attracted to the state.
Saying that the enormous potentials the state was blessed with could be tapped by the investors for the all-round development of the state, Ajimobi noted that: “Oyo State has the highest, including land mass for the restoration, transformation and repositioning agenda of our government, in terms of potentials”.
“Oyo State government is ready to collaborate with the consortium, especially in the area of agriculture which is the mainstay of the state’s economy. And now, Oyo State can now boast of 27,640 sq km. farmland out of which 75 per cent are arable for the planting of cassava, fruits as well as abundant solid minerals, granite and facilities for property development” he said.
On Security, Mr. Ajimobi assured the audience that his administration would make security and safety of foreign partners its major concern.
He added that Oyo State was a safe place for them to do their businesses, stressing that there was no security challenge that the government could not tackle.
Panellists at the roundtable meeting were Engr. Oluwafemi Odumabo, General Mgr. Policy, Government and Public Affairs Department in Nigeria/Mid Africa Strategic Business Unit of Chevron, Mrs. Oyefunke I. Oworu, Special Advisor to the Governor of Oyo State of Nigeria on Trade and Investment, Oze K. Oze, Manager Publications & Conferences, First Bank Plc. And Dr. Toks Onabanjo, Executive Director, Pan African American Chamber of Commerce.
The event also involved American Companies from Chicago, the State of Illinois, Midwestern States, and the USA at large who came to meet the delegation from Oyo State of Nigeria.
