Police Launch Manhunt For Robbery Suspects

The Rivers State Police Command has launched a manhunt for four robbery suspects who raided a first-generation bank and killed two persons.

The command’s spokesman, Mr Ben Ugwuegbulam, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Friday that the gang struck at the bank’s pay-point at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital on May 17.

``The command can confirm that a four-man robbery gang robbed the pay-point of a first generation bank at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching  Hospital on May 17.

``They killed a man and a woman in the process and made away with an undisclosed amount of money,’’ he said.

Ugwuegbulam said the incident took place at about 4 p.m. and that detectives from the command had launched a serious man-hunt for them.

``We want to assure the people that the command is on top of the situation and we are on the trail of the robbers.

``We also appeal to the people to give us useful information that would assist us fight crime in the state,’’ he said.
