The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) said in Ondo State on Monday that the party had yet to adopt its governorship candidate for the forthcoming poll in the state.

A statement by its publicity secretary, Mr  Rotimi Agbede, made available to newsmen in Akure said a report that it had done so was meant to cause disaffection among the apirants and to create confusion in the party.

Sources hinted that there was jubilation in one community in Akoko area at the weekend on the speculation that one of their kinsmen had been adopted as the party’s governorship candidate.

According to Agbede, the ``rumour mongers'' are determined to  portray ACN in bad light in the eyes of the anxious public that are looking up to the party to form the next government in the state

He said the claim of adoption of candidate by ACN which started as ``a mere rumour'' have since become the main political topic across the state where several names of gubernatorial aspirants were dropped on daily basis in an attempt to confuse the general public.

Agbede said the party at the national and state levels had not announced the name of any aspirant as the candidate of
the party for the forthcoming election

”The party in  the state is capable of ensuring the emergence of party’s candidate in accordance with the law.

“What we are focusing on right now is how to harness the public goodwill presently being enjoyed by the party across the state.
“We are resolved to win power as against the distraction being perpetrated by our political opponents,” the statement added.(NAN)
