Isiaka Amidu, a driver, of Sabiu Deidei, Abuja, was on Wednesday arraigned at a Wuse Magistrates' Court, Abuja, on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Police prosecutor Francis Tanko told the court that on May 21, one Muhammad Abdullahi of Abacha Road, Karu, reported at the Wuse Police Station that the accused had breached the terms of the contract agreement they signed.
Tanko said the complainant gave his vehicle, with registration No. XE966PEH to the accused for commercial purposes on the understanding that he would be remitting N2,000 to him daily.
``The accused has driven the vehicle for three weeks without remitting the accruing N36,000 to the complainant and has also misplaced the number plate of the vehicle.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Senior Magistrate Grace Adebayo granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be civil servants on Grade Level 04, reside within the jurisdiction of the court and depose to an affidavit of means.
Adebayo adjourned the case to June 18 for hearing. (NAN)
