Contrary to the wide spread claim that Niger State government pressurised members of the State House of Assembly to impeach Hon. Isah Kawu as the speaker of the House last Tuesday, the government has dissociated itself from all the happenings in the House.

Similarly, the new Speaker of the House, Hon. Usman Adamu said yesterday, immediately he was sworn in that the House acted on its own accord; adding that there was no any financial inducement from the executive.

The state Commissioner of Information, Communication and Strategy, Alhaji Danladi Abdulhameed made the position of the government known yesterday in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP in Minna.

He said that the executive did not in any way induce any member to impeach their leadership in the past and at present, saying that government was positioned to always promote separation of powers based on collaboration.

According to him, members of House of Assembly were enlightened and educated people that could think for themselves and act in accordance with the dictates of their positions, as “what happened in the House was democratic.”

He said though the government of Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu always believe that for the state to move forward there must be a synergy between all arms of government, hence the need to achieve the vision of making the state one of the three top economies by the year 2020.

“The executive has no hand in what happened, I can tell you that we don’t budget for such money that they are saying we gave to individuals, rather we use our money budgeted for the development of rural areas and the overall development of the state. I have asked my colleagues, I have asked everybody nobody had any transaction with any House of Assembly member, so it is not true, we work independently to succeed,” he said.
