Dare devil robbers on Monday, invaded Christ the King Catholic Church (CKC) convent, Obazu, Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State in an bid to rob the habitants of the convent.

Unfortunately, luck was not on the side of the robbers, as the inmates of the convent were away on a weekend holiday.

Fuming with rage at their ill luck, a witness said that the robbers however descended on the security guard of the convent, Mr. Okechukwu Ebiriukwu who was shot.

It is not clear as at the time of filling this report if the guard survived the gun shot, LEADERSHIP meanwhile gathered that he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Another eye witness explained that the robbers on gaining entry into the premises of the church started shouting “sex” which the witness said was interpreted to imply that the robbers aside planning to rob the reverend sisters at the convent had also planned to rape them.

The state police public relations officer, Samuel Oodee said he was not competent to speak on the matter until when properly briefed about the incident.
