The police in Yobe have confirmed the death of two people shot by gunmen at Potiskum Timber Market on Thursday.
One other person was injured when two gunmen stormed the market at about 1:30pm.
The victims were said to be cutting wood at a timber shed in the market when they were shot.
The Police Public Relation Officer, Mr Gbadegesin Toyin, confirmed the incident.
``We learnt that the hoodlums opened fire on people at the timber shed and a man was said to have died instantly.
``I will advise the people of the state to be very vigilant and also be wary of strange faces in their area.''
An eye witness had told NAN that the gunmen arrived the market in a Volkswagen Golf and trekked down to where they carried out the attack.
``The two gunmen went directly and shot two people dead before they forced their way back to the car, they shot sporadically in the air and zoomed off,'' the witness said.
He said the injured person, who was shot on the leg had been admitted at the Potiskum General Hospital. (NAN)
