Gov Gabriel Suswam of Benue has appealed to the general public, especially the youth, to conduct researches that would transform the state.

Suswam made the appeal on Thursday in Makurdi at the presentation and launch of a book titled, "The Foundations of  Political Economy and Politics of Development and Underdevelopment."

The book was written by a university Lecturer, Mr Aondona Mkor.

The governor said that researches were the pillars of development in the society, pointing out that development was associated with challenges, especially in a developing state like Benue.

Suswan restated his commitment to the task of developing the state, pledging to continue to offer quality services for the rest of his tenure as governor.

He urged students at all levels of education to use dialogue as a means of resolving issues and warned against the use of violence to achieve the objective.

The chairman of the occasion, Sen. Jack Tilley-Gyado, said that politics was a major component of the society and ought to be given priority.

Gyado urged the academia to conduct research into topical issues that would stir development in the state.

The wife of the state Deputy Governor, Mrs Margaret Lawani, appealed to youths to emulate the author by utilising their energy to achieve productive goals.

The book reviewer, Prof. Solomon Ogbu, said the book underlined the critical issues in politics.

Ogbu called on political leaders to make policies and decisions that would transform the fortunes of the state. (NAN)
