Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of  Sokoto State has challenged Nigerians to ensure a sustainable security , describing the responsibility as a collective one .

The News  Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that  Wamakko spoke in Sokoto at a dinner organised by the state government in honour of the newly appointed Minister of Youths Development Inuwa Abdulkadir .

A statement signed by Abubakar Dangusau , Director of Press Affairs , Government House , Sokoto, issued  in Sokoto on Sunday  quoted Wamakko as expressing hope that Nigeria would soon overcome all its security challenges .

The governor recalled that the nation which had fought a deadly thirty –month civil war and overcame it , would also overcome  her present challenges .

‘’ In spite of these myriad of challenges , Nigeria is now more united and the obnoxious situation will soon be history .

‘’ The three tiers of government and all the stakeholders are not relenting in their efforts to ensure the prevalence of peace , unity and security ,’’ he noted .

Wamakko, however, said all Nigerians were equal stakeholders in ensuring the sustenance of peace , security and unity and not only the security agencies or the government .

The governor described the new minister as a loyal  , dedicated technocrat whose penchant for honesty , justice , equity and fair play were unparalleled .

‘’ We knew each other since 1986 and since then , I have known him to be pious and dedicated and a seasoned legal practitioner .

‘’ His choice by the President and subsequent clearance by the Senate does not come to us  as a surprise in anyway ,’’ Wamakko added.

He urged Abdulkadir to be absolutely loyal to the President and Nigerians , saying , ‘’ this should not in any way be shaken .’’

The Minister of Youths Development , who was  the immediate past Justice Commissioner in Sokoto State, commended the people and government of  the state for reposing tremendous confidence in him.

‘’ I will be a good Ambassador for the people and the government of the state as well as be loyal to the President and I will never fail Nigerians ,’’ he vowed .( NAN)
