The 2006 winner of the Big Brother Nigeria show, Katung Aduwak was hosted by Scintilla night Club Lekki on Saturday May 21, 2011, to a welcome back party after his sojourn to the United States for a two-year course and work experience at the Digital Film Academy New York.
Friends and industry personnel were at the event to celebrate on his achievements and successful return home. Chocolate city rappers; Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz, 2Shotz, DIPP, Ace producer TeeY MIX, Praize, Inyanya and General Pype were all around to welcome the great achiever. Also, Big Brother Nigeria housemates Chinedu and Ify were also a part of the evening which kicked off with a Soundcity red carpet at 10pm.
Born on March 21, 1980, the first of four boys attended Air Force Primary School Victoria Island and moved on to get his secondary education at the Air Force Military School Jos. He attended the University of Jos where he bagged a degree in Political Science.
He worked as an on air personality at Cool FM Abuja after winning the Cool DJ Search competition and later moved to Rhythm 94.7FM Abuja before participating in the Big Brother Nigeria competition. Occupying the position of Director of Media at Chocolate City, Katung went to film school to further his career in film production in New York where after coming out tops in his class was granted a paid internship at “The Film Centre” – a Universal Studio affiliate organisation.
In addition to his role at Chocolate City, Katung is UN ambassador for peace, national condom ambassador, NACA and an Ambassador for Heart of Africa. His first official work as a cinematographer was done at the London premiere of II where he shot the video for Ice Prince’s follow up single “Superstar”. Katung’s return as a screen writer, director and cinematographer will allow him contend with contemporaries in the industry as well as contribute his quota in the development of the arts in Nigeria.
