Authorities of the Federal Government College (FGC), Kano have confirmed killing of two of its students by unknown gunmen Tuesday but said the attack was carried out outside the school premises.
It said contrary to the media report that gunmen attacked the school Monday evening, the attack took place in a shopping area at ‘Yar Akwa area of Na’ibawa Quareters.
It was gathered that the killings might be as a result of robbery attack carried out around the area.
While two students were killed four others were wounded.
According to the school authority, the affected students were day students and were attacked after they left the school around 6.00pm. “We don’t know yet what precipitated the attack but certainly two of our students were killed while four others were wounded outside the school”, a source said.
The Vice- Principal (Admin), Mrs Elizabeth Kasuwa confirmed the incident Tuesday and said that the students have been de boarded from the school in view of their final examinations.
According to her, all of the affected students are male students who were about taking their final examinations.
She explained that the school Management had visited Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) where corpses of the two students
were deposited in the mortuary while the other students who sustained injuries in the attack were receiving treatment in at emergency ward of the hospital.
Police Public Relations Officer, Tanimu Mohammed Dutse confirmed the attack and said that the killings took place around 'Yar Akwa area, near some shops.
