The Kaduna State Government on Friday said it had dismissed 10 workers from its service over allegations of misconduct in the last one year.
Mr Nathaniel Hayab, the Head of Service, made this known while briefing newsmen in Kaduna on the achievement recorded by the State Government within the period.
Hayab said that 20 workers absconded, 44 workers resigned, while 238 retired from the service.
The head of service warned workers to desist from neglecting their duties, saying that appropriate sanction would be applied to those found wanting.
Hayab, who also used the occasion to mark the beginning of the State Civil Service Day, urged workers to strive toward actualising the vision of the government.
``Promote professionalism and good leadership in the conduct of public service,’’ he said.
He said that the State Government would promote inter and intra-ministry interaction for better output and performance.
`` We shall try to engender espirit-de-corp among the civil servants, especially through interactions and our activities.’’
He said the Civil Service Week, celebrated every June 17 to June 23, was organised to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the civil service toward the development of the state.
He said the theme: ``Capacity Development for the Implementation of the Transformation Agenda’’, was apt as it was in line with the government plans to improve the skills and competence of civil servants.
``The State Government, through the white paper on policy and structure of government, has agreed on a five per cent of total annual personnel cost of civil servants to be set aside for capacity development.’’
He said N85.9 million had been estimated as the cost of implementing the training roadmap of civil servants, adding that 1,100 participants benefited from January to date.
Hayab said between 1999 and 2011, N14. 2 million was spent on the in-service training of 990 workers.
He said the government had staff strength of 30,401 but that it would cross-check the data to authenticate the number of workers in its payroll. (NAN)
