Former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Iyasele of Esanland, Chief Tony Anenih, has commended the Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa II, for lifting the four-year old suspension on the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion.
This was just as youths in Edo State marched through major streets in Benin City, the state capital, to rally support for the Peoples Democratic Party governorship flag bearer, Maj. Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (rtd) ahead of the July 14 poll.
In a statement at the weekend, Anenih said that the decision of the Benin monarch to lift the suspension was a mark of his kind-heartedness and magnanimous spirit.
The statement reads, “I received with joy the news that our esteemed Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa, has lifted the suspension order placed on the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion.
“While I rejoice with my brother and friend, the Esama of Benin for this reprieve, I commend the Oba’s kind-heartedness and magnanimous spirit in lifting the suspension order.
