Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has warned the state fertilizer distribution committee against diverting the commodity.
Giving this warning during the flag-off of this year’s fertilizer sale and distribution in Deba town, the governor said that nobody found wanting will be spared.
Dankwambo said he directed the Ministry of Agriculture to distribute the commodity down to the pooling to ensure that the fertilizer reaches the actual farmers at their doorsteps.
He added that each polling unit would have 100 bags to support the e-wallet system of distribution by the Growth Enhancement Support Scheme programme.
He said the provision of adequate facilities, incentives, appropriate inputs and extension services would greatly improve the level of agricultural production and well being of our citizens.
According to him, government has plans to create an enabling environment for the establishment of agro-based industries to mop up products like grains, fruit and vegetables, and we hope that these efforts will redress unemployment, ensure food security and wealth creation,” Dankwambo said.
He said that the fertilizer would be sold at a highly subsidized rate of N2, 700 per 50kg bag of all brands (NPK and Urea) for the 2012 cropping season.
