The police, yesterday, extended an invitation to other members of the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on the probe of the fuel subsidy regime as well as chairman of the House committee on Narcotics, Drugs and Financial Crimes, Hon. Adam Jagaba over the controversy surrounding the alleged $620,000 bribery money.
Hon. Farouk Lawan, in his deposition to the police had said that he gave Jagaba the alleged bribe money for safe keeping pending when it would be tendered in a law court. But Jagaba in a swift reaction denied being in possession of the money and said that he was never given the money.
In the course of the Special Task Force (STF) investigation led by CP Ali Amodu, Lawan who was asked to produce the money to his investigators refused and insisted that it was his only evidence against his accuser, chairman of Zenon Oil, Mr Femi Otedola who allegedly gave the bribe money.
LEADERSHIP learnt from sources that the police sent the invitation through the Speaker of the House, Hon. Aminu Tambulwal who was asked to prevail on the lawmakers to make themselves available to help the Task Force in its assignment.
Meanwhile, Lawan and his clerk reported at the police station yesterday in continuation of the investigation into the case. They were said to have reported at about 1130am and did not spend much time with his interrogators.
