Niger Assembly Passes 12 Bills, 95 Motions

The 7th session of Niger State House of Assembly has passed 12 bills into law and adopted 95 motions in her first legislative year, aimed at providing the desired development for the state

The Speaker, Usman Adamu who said this, yesterday, at the beginning of the second year of the 7th legislative session also disclosed that 10 other bills received during the period were at various stages of legislation.

He listed the bills to include a bill for a law to establish Broadcasting Corporation of Niger State, a bill for a law to establish Niger State Television (2008), a bill for a law to establish Niger State Drug and Hospital Consumables Management Agency and a bill for a law to amend Public Health law 2009.

He said “In addition to the fore-going, I would like to encourage us to do more concerning our oversight functions because there lays our constitutional duty as legislators to superintend and scrutinise government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on issues relating to their effective performance”.
