The recent bomb blast and violencent reactions that engulfed Kaduna and Zaria has created artificial scarcity of perishable goods in Sokoto in the last two days.
As such, food ingredients that normally pass through Zaria and Kaduna enroute Sokoto were relatively scarce due to the riots.
LEADERSHIP gathered that food items like potatoes, water melon, mango, pepper, among others were scanty in the market for a while due to the violence in Zaria and Kaduna that left over 100 dead and a lot more injured.
Some traders spoke to our correspondent in Sokoto on the condition of anonymity said government must take proactive measures to address the issue of insecurity in the country.
He lamented that the shoes left by the countries forefathers have proved to big for current leaders, one of which is to keep the country one.
But another trader view it differently. He said that if the only way to achieve peace would be only to split the country, it was a better alternative rather than shedding blood.
At press time, Sokoto is relatively peaceful and business is going on smoothly in the metropolis.
Meanwhile, prices of commodities have dropped in Sokoto markets in the last one week, LEADERSHIP yesterday learnt.
In a survey carried out yesterday at the vegetable market, popularly known as Rimin Kura Market, showed that items such as tomatoes, pepper and others assorted goods are now affordable to the masses.
