Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has dissolved the State Executive Council, SEC, with a promise to re-appoint some of the commissioners as far as they enjoy the support of the people of the state.
Amaechi, who announced the dissolution of his cabinet on Thursday night at a valedictory SEC meeting in Port Harcourt, thanked the commissioners for their contributions and services to the state.
“I think that some of you would come back, because you have all done quite a lot for the successes that we recorded, and the state will continue to remember your services”, he stated.
The governor, while eulogizing the commissioners for their performance at different ministries, noted that the state won a Gold Cup for its efforts in the education sector, which was accompanied by a cash gift of N400 million.
He used the occasion to highlight some of the resolutions of the council throughout the first tenure, which included setting up of the Economic Advisory Council, Social Rehabilitation Committee, State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy and the Rivers State Bureau on Public Procurement.
