The Head of the Special Protection Unit of Gov.  AbdulAziz Yari of Zamfara, Mr Ado Yahaya, on Sunday died in motor accident involving the governor’s convoy and camel.

Yahaya, who until then an Assistant Superintendent of Police, died in the incident on Gummi-Sokoto Road in which five other policemen sustained injuries.

The Director of Press and Communication to the governor, Alhaji Nuhu Anka, made this known in Gusau on Monday.

Anka said that the accident occurred when the governor's convoy was returning from Talata Mafara, after a road inspection visit in Gummi.

Anka, who was also on the convoy, said the fleet ran into a stray camel while on high speed.

He said the vehicle, which was conveying members of the special protection unit hit the crossing camel, resulting in the death of Yahaya, while the other policemen on board sustained injuries.

He said the governor had instructed that the corpse should be conveyed to Gusau for funeral rites, while the injured policemen were admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau.

Anka added that those, who sustained fractures, had been referred to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Kano.
