Court Arraigns 2 Men For Rape

Two accused persons, Rafiu Akeem, 18 and Olasupo Wasiu, 18, were on Monday, arraigned before an Osogbo Senior Magistrate’s Court charged for alleged rape.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Elisha Olusegun, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 1, at 52, Kolawole Street, Atelewo, Osogbo.

He said that the accused forcefully had carnal knowledge of one Sadiat Abimbola, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Sections 357, 358 and 516 of the state penal code.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence brought against them.

The defence counsel, Mr Dauda Oyewole, applied for bail and promised to provide reliable sureties.

The Senior Magistrate, Olusola Aluko granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Aluko added that the sureties should swear to affidavit of means and show evidence of tax payments and resides within the court jurisdiction.

He, however, adjourned the case till Sept. 7 for further hearing.
