A 42-year-old housewife, Oluwakemi Ibrahim, was on Monday docked before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over an alleged fraud involving N2 million.

Ibrahim is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretences and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Idowu Osungbure, said that the accused, with others at large, between March 2010 and Nov. 2010 obtained the money from one Mr Adeyemi Michael.

Osungbure said that Ibrahim had promised to secure an American visa for Michael, but failed to do so after collecting the money.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 285, 312 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Adebayo Sonuga, granted her bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties.

He adjourned the case till Aug. 10 for further hearing.
