The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has ordered the CPC to furnish the counsel to the PDP with details of its petition, challenging the outcome of the April presidential elections.
Justice Ayo Salami, President, Court of Appeal and Chairman of the tribunal, said on Friday in Abuja that this was necessary to clarify some issues contained in the petition.
The PDP counsel had earlier brought an application to the court, seeking further and better particulars relating to some paragraphs of the petitions which they argued were general in nature.
Salami said the PDP counsel had the right to get clarifications as they sought in the petition.
Reacting to the ruling, Mr Alex Izion (SAN), lead counsel to the PDP, said the ruling was in order.
He said every respondent needed to be furnished with details of his petition to enable him defend it.``We brought an application seeking explanation of some paragraphs in the petition which we felt were general and evasive in nature,’’ he explained. (NAN)
He said that apart from one paragraph which the court said was in order, it ordered that the CPC should provide details of other paragraphs. (NAN)
