Entertainment fans across the continent are in for a huge treat as leading telecommunications operator, Globacom and entertainment powerhouse, MTV Base join forces on the hit TV show, The Big Friday Show.
Serving up a weekly slice of vibrant West African youth culture, The Big Friday Show has already won legions of fans, thanks to its fast-paced mash-up of music, celebrity appearances, pranks, spoofs, and celebrity and fans interaction.
Hosted by popular comedian and Globacom ambassador, Basketmouth, The Big Friday Show will also feature SMS and MMS trivia/competitions and prize-winning opportunities for Glo subscribers in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic.
The first edition of the Show was aired on June 22 and featured an exclusive interview with P-Square as they talked about their recent collaboration with Rick Ross. Nigerian comedian Bovi also featured, appearing via satellite from Houston, Texas, to talk about the international appeal of African comedy. Banky W, Wizkid and Skales also made appearance.
Under the new partnership, The Big Friday Show will offer even more interactivity than before, including the chance for viewers to meet and interview the celebrity guest of the week and appear on the show in person. Viewers may also suggest celebrities they’d like to see interviewed on the show, and to send questions to their favourite celebrity via SMS or MMS to get their questions answered directly on the show.
Glo subscribers in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin will additionally have the opportunity to win prizes including weekly recharge cards, Glo high speed internet modems, high-end Blackberry handsets and Glo SIMs.
The Big Friday Show also offers viewers an opportunity to prank their friends by sending in their home videos by MMS or by uploading onto Facebook; the funniest clips will be played on the show. The overall best prank clip will stand a chance to win a grand prize of US$2,000 at the end of the series.

He also said that Globacom regards the youth as a pearl to be celebrated, adding that this was why the company launched a special tariff plan for the youth called G-Bam Hifi which offers scholarships worth N750 million in addition to a whole lot of other benefits that are designed to complement their lifestyle.
