Bala, 38, resides in Pambegua in the Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Police Prosecutor, Simeon Usman, told the court that the Village Head of  Pambegua, Alhaji Haruna Idris, reported the case to the police on May 29.

He said two village watchmen, Garba Abdul and Dawadi Shugaba, arrested the accused at the Pambegua Cemetery, while trying to exhume human skull from the grave.

Usman said the accused was charged with an attempt to commit theft, which is contrary to section 95 of the Penal Code.

When the case came up for hearing, the accused started hitting himself, praising the former state governors as well as asking the presiding officer to tamper justice with mercy.

``Don Allah ka yi hakuri. Ba ni kudi in sayi kifi,'' meaning: ``tamper justice with mercy. Give me money to buy fish."

The accused, who collapsed twice inside the court room, was assisted to stand on the dock by a prison warder attached to him.

The Presiding Officer, Chief Magistrate, Nasiru Idris,  said the court would release the accused only to his relations to enable them seek psychiatric treatment for the accused.

"We cannot just release him into the street because of his insanity, it is glaring that the accused is insane."

Idris ordered the police prosecutor to locate Bala's relations for the court to hand him over to. He adjourned the case to July 9.
