Explosion Averted In Jos North

Another explosion has been averted at the Congo Russia area of Jos North local government council.

In a statement by the Plateau State police command, signed by its public relations officer, DSP Abu Emmanuel and made available to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND yesterday, the police said that on Thursday night at 11pm, there was a distress call from a divisional police officer of Nasarawa Gwon about a strange container suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in the area.

According to him, the development prompted the police anti-bomb squad to respond and subsequently moved swiftly to the scene, defused and evacuated the bomb.

The statement added that there was neither casualty nor damage toproperty.

While confirming the incident, the Plateau State commissioner of police, Dipo Ayeni, advised members of the public to always report any suspicious movement within their neighbourhood.
